Step : How to Create a Conditional Split Path

Created by Faye BSG, Modified on Fri, 06 Oct 2023 at 06:37 AM by Faye BSG

In this article, we will discuss how to set a conditional split path in a workflow. A conditional split path is a fork in the workflow that allows each contact to follow different steps depending on things such as their actions in your Site, Funnels, or other aspects of their contact profile.  You can allow the paths to merge again or prematurely end the workflow for a path using the End Path step.

Prior to getting started, you will need to have the following:

  • A workflow created in your Marketing Workflows
  • A trigger set up in your workflow

Step by Step Walk Through:

  1. In the Marketing section of your account, navigate to the workflow where you want to add the conditional split path step.

  2. In the workflow, locate the step you would like the conditional split path to follow.  Move your mouse over the small circle below that step, and click the + button when it appears.

  3. Under the workflow heading, click on the Conditional Split Path option.

  4. Click on the text reading Setup your conditions to set the conditions under which someone will go down the Yes path.

  5. Type in a name to help identify this Conditional Split Path step.

  6. Configure the Filters you want to use to send contacts down the Yes path. Contacts who do not match these filters will be sent down the No path.
    1. Additional filters can be specified in a single “group” by clicking the +AND buttons. ALL conditions within a group using AND must be true for a contact to qualify for that group.
    2. Additional “groups” can be added by clicking on the +OR button. A contact must meet the conditions of at least one group to qualify for the Yes path.

  7. After the Filters are configured to your liking, click the Submit button.

  8. Depending on your needs, you can add the rest of your Workflow steps for each path.

  9. Congratulations! You now know how to create a Conditional Split Path!
