Academy: Getting Started: Lesson 5: Page Editor

Modified on Mon, 4 Mar at 8:50 PM

Welcome again to our ClickFunnels 2.0 Getting Started Training. In this session, we will learn about ClickFunnels 2.0’s web builder, the Page Editor.

Requirements:

  • An active ClickFunnels 2.0 account

  • A page

Table of Contents:

Introduction:

Throughout our ClickFunnels 2.0 different products, you will find some of them involve multimedia pages or web pages that will be displayed in front of your potential customers.

The Page Editor is a constant feature that will let you build Funnel pages, Sites, Blog Posts, Stores, the Customer Center, and Stand-alone pages, just to name a few. It’s the platform's core for editing digital content and page layouts. It’s a white canvas where you can start designing your pages from scratch or with a prebuilt theme.

You might see variations of the Page Editor, depending on the feature you are currently working on. For example, the Email Editor is a bit more limited than the Funnel Page Editor, but it uses the same logic and the same structural way of building your page; it relies on different nested levels and usually incorporates Sections, Rows, Columns, and Elements (represented in the three images below).

Features that Use the Page Editor:

As mentioned above, the Page Editor environment constantly appears when editing a ClickFunnels multimedia page. Here’s a list of all the features that include the Page Editor to change the look and feel of pages.

  • Site Page

  • Blog Home Page

  • Blog Posts

  • Blog Category Pages

  • Theme Pages

  • Store Front Page

  • Store Product Page

  • Store Collection Page

  • Store Checkout Page

  • Store Order Confirmation

  • Course Home Page

  • Course Module Lessons

  • Course Lesson Page

  • Page Not Found / Error Page

  • Coming Soon Page

  • Funnel Pages

  • Customer Center

  • Stand-alone Pages

  • Email Editor

Every important piece of multimedia content in your ClickFunnels account is created using our Page Editor; in some cases, you might see a limited variation of our Page Editor designed for that particular feature. A good example of this situation is the editor version of a Blog Post; it contains special elements, like adding the Blog author’s name, which is only relevant if you are building a blog page.

How to Build a Page:

As this article mentions, the Page Editor can generate content from different features in ClickFunnels 2.0. The steps might change depending on what type of content you are trying to build, but the principles are all the same: if you create new content, you can edit it later. Let’s try with a couple of examples:

How to Build a Funnel Page.

If you need to learn more about creating a Funnel, you can open this article here. Let’s continue after setting up a funnel, exactly at the point where you add a new Funnel page:

  1. From inside a funnel, locate the + button and click on it. This will open a new dialog to your right.

  2. Select the Page button from the options.

  3. Select a Template by clicking the options available, or start your page from scratch by clicking the New Page button instead.

  4. Give your new funnel page a name and a unique URL, and click under Create Page.

  5. Done; now you have a new page created for your funnel and can start editing it.

How to Build a Blog Page.

If you need more information about blogs, you can open our article here. Let’s review the steps to add a new blog post:

  1. From the Blog section, click under New Blog post.

  2. Fill out the information for this blog post and click Create post.

  3. And now, you can see your new Blog Post and start editing it to match your content.

As you can see, there are some slight differences, but the idea is always the same: add a new generic page, and from there, you can start editing it. The same principle works for any ClickFunnels feature requiring the page editor. Now, let’s move on to the building part.

How to Edit a Page:

The main objective of the Page Editor is to transform a generic page or a blank canvas into a site you can put in front of your customers and use it as a marketing tool to improve your conversions or sales.

It might be slightly different in every case, but once you have created a new page, it will appear under a list inside the main screen of the feature you are currently working on.

For example, if I create a new stand-alone page under Pages, I just need to navigate back to Pages from the main menu, and a current list of pages will display there. Just click on the title of the desired page to edit it, as shown in the image below:

To edit a Funnel Page, you must complete an additional step since Funnel Pages are contained one level above your current Funnel list. First, you will need to go to the Funnels main section and select the desired funnel from the list:

This will take you to the Funnel layout page. Just locate the page you want to work with and click Edit:

Once you have clicked on the right page, you will see the Page Editor loading screen for a brief space while it loads all your page elements and the editor itself.

Once it loads, you will see the Page Editor tools and your page content. In our case, we’ve just opened a blank page, and this is how it looks:

To learn more about the page editor and its elements, please continue in the following article: Site & Funnels: Editor Overview

Once finished with our Editor Overview article, please take a moment to review our article about the Page Editor: Units.

As mentioned, the Page Editor is a white canvas; you can build your pages in blocks. In the following lessons, we’ll learn more about SectionsColumnsRows, and Elements
