What are Topics?
Topics in ClickFunnels allow you to categorize the content of your email broadcasts. When you send out a broadcast, you must select a Topic, which indicates to your contacts what kind of content the email covers. Topics are not email lists but labels for your broadcasts. ClickFunnels automatically adds a default General Topic, which cannot be deleted or changed.
Subscribers can unsubscribe from individual Topics but may still receive broadcasts associated with other Topics.
Example:
Imagine you run a fitness coaching business and regularly send different email broadcasts content such as workout plans, diet tips, and promotional offers. You can create Topics such as “Workouts,” “Nutrition,” and “Promotion.” Subscribers can choose to receive only the content they’re most interested in by managing their subscription preferences through Topics.
Creating a New Topic
- Navigate to Workspace Settings on the left sidebar.
- Click on Email Settings, then select the Topics tab.
-
Click on the Create Topic button to create a new topic.
-
In the open prompt, enter the topic name and description.
The General Topic is workspace default and cannot be deleted or modified.
Assigning Topics to a Broadcast
- Go to the Email app within your ClickFunnels account.
- Create or edit an email broadcast.
- In the broadcast settings, you will see a Broadcast Topics option. Select one or more Topics relevant to the email content.
-
If no other Topic is selected, the General Topic will be automatically applied.
Managing Subscriber Preferences
When subscribers receive an email broadcast, they will have the ability to manage their preferences through an Unsubscribe link, which ClickFunnels automatically includes in the email. Upon clicking the link, they will be directed to an unsubscribe page where they can update their Topic preferences. This page allows subscribers to opt out of specific Topics while remaining subscribed to others, giving them more control over the types of emails they receive.
If a subscriber chooses to unsubscribe from all Topics, they will no longer receive any future broadcasts.
