Smart Checkout Guide: Guest and Saved Users View

Modified on Thu, 25 Jan at 6:39 PM

This article is the third one from the Smart Checkout guide, covering the basics of the ClickFunnels Smart Checkout element. The Smart Checkout element allows you to sell products directly from your funnel.

In this article, we will go over the Guest and Saved Users View feature from the Smart Checkout element. One of the most recent features of our Checkout element is the ability to recognize users’ emails from our customers' database and load their information instead of making them type in their information again.

Table of Contents:

Preview Feature:

The Preview feature from our Smart Checkout lets users see exactly how their customers will see the checkout element live. The options available will change depending on how many steps we have selected under the Checkout Steps section.

The Checkout steps feature is designed for guest users who aren’t recognized as recurring buyers by the sticky cookies or the entered email addresses.

ClickFunnels has an email-based database; if a customer has purchased from one of your funnels or pages and enters his email address again in a Smart Checkout, it will recognize them as a recurring buyer and display the “Saved” view instead.

You can always change the Preview mode to Saved to see precisely how recurring buyers will see the Smart Checkout once they identify with their email address or if the cookies detect a recurring buyer in an upsell page.

Here’s an example of how the guest mode previews the Smart Checkout (it requires the users to fill up their information):

This is an example of how the saved mode previews the Smart Checkout (it loads the preexistent customer information in our database):

Now that we have covered the preview mode inside the Page Editor, we will discuss the Guest and Saved mode from the Smart Checkout on the live page.

Guest Users:

As mentioned, a Guest User is a visitor not recognized as a recurrent buyer. Once a visitor is registered as a guest, the system will display the guest version of the Smart Checkout; this means they must type in their contact, shipping, and payment information at the Smart Checkout element to purchase from it.

Saved Users:

In contrast to Guest Users, Saved Users refer to our system's ability to recognize recurrent buyers. A customer can be recognized as a recurrent buyer from your checkout if his email address is already associated with a previous purchase or a sticky cookie installed in your customer’s computer recognizes a previous buyer.
