Step by Step Guide to Split Testing a Page

Hello and welcome to this step-by-step guide to split testing a page. You’ve worked hard on the design of your page, but you may have another idea that you’d like to try and do not want to guess which one performs better.

A split test page will allow you to test conversions for two variations of each page in your funnel. From here, you can determine, based on the data from the stats, which page has better conversions and which one to keep.

In this article, we will guide you through creating a split test.

Important Note: We recommend running your split test for at least 30 days to achieve the most accurate results. This will allow the system enough time to return the desired split percentage between your variation pages.

Requirements:

  • An active ClickFunnels 2.0 account
  • A funnel with at least one page in your ClickFunnels account.

Table of Contents:

Split Test Setting:

Each step or page on a funnel has the option to be split-tested to try out other versions of it. Sometimes, the difference could be as simple as a different color on a button or headline and, on some occasions, an entirely different design or product.

  1. Click on the three dots on the bottom right corner of your existing funnel step or page and select Split Test Page.

  2. The system will display a pop-up with two options: (a.) Create duplicate from... , and (b.) Create from template.
    1. Create duplicate from...: Select this setting to create a copy of your existing page instantly. The duplicate page becomes the variation of the original page that the system uses in the split test.
    2. Create from template: Use this setting to create a split test page by using a template or create a blank page.

  3. Adjust the slider to add weight (traffic) to either page variation and click the Apply Change button.

  4. After some time, you will be able to determine which split test variation performs better based on their stats. To view the stats, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the funnel and toggle on the Analytics switch.

  5. Stats will then display at the bottom of each variation.

  6. From here, you can identify the version that is performing better based on the Stats results. You can remove the page that is being outperformed by clicking on the red x above the split test settings and selecting which side you want to remove. Then click the red Remove button.

Conditional Split Path:

  1. Click the plus icon to add a new funnel page, a conditional split path, or an entirely new split test.

    1. Page: Click this option to add a new funnel page.
    2. Conditional Split Path: Use this option to create a condition before the visitor is taken to the next step of the funnel workflow.
      1. Once the conditional split path is selected, choose an option from the filter dropdown menu. In the example below, the “Owns Product” option was selected.

Now, visitors will go down a specific path in the split test based on if they are on the YES or NO side filter settings. In this example, Yes would mean that they already own the selected product, and No would mean that they do not.

    3. Split Test: Create a new split test using the split test option.
