Most input elements support various Input Types. However, you may need to collect data not supported by the pre-defined types. Use the Custom Type to define the input stored in a contact’s profile as a custom attribute.
Requirements:
- An active ClickFunnels 2.0 account
- A page
- One of the supported elements
Table of Contents:
Supported Elements:
To collect custom data, you must use an element that supports a Custom Type setting. The Custom Type setting will require that you provide a name for it. The field might be specifically labeled Custom Type, or, as with the Select Box element, it could be labeled Input Name. Here is a list of elements that currently support it:
- Checkbox Input (Article coming soon)
- Select Box (Article coming soon)
- Input (Article coming soon)
- Text Area (Article coming soon)
Checking Custom Attributes:
Whatever name you gave your Custom Type on your element will be stored as the name of the Custom Attribute in the contact’s profile, along with whatever value the Contact entered into that element when submitting the page.
Important Note: Please see this article for more information about Contact Profiles/Custom Attributes (Article coming soon).
Using Custom Attributes:
When collecting custom data through one of the supported elements and verifying that it is stored in contact profiles, you can use the data in, Webhooks, Workflows (conditional split path filters), or Funnels (conditional split path filters).
- Workflows (Conditional Split Path): The conditional split path in workflows is a filter that directs the customer down a specific path depending on the data. Click this link to learn more about workflows: conditional split path.
Example: - Funnels (Conditional Split Path): The conditional split path in funnels works similarly to the workflow conditional split path. This setting lets you filter your customers that pass to the next funnel step based on the custom information collected from them. Click this link to learn more about Funnels: Conditional Split Path.
Example: - Webhooks: Selecting “form_submission.created” event type captures and sends the information when a page is submitted. It includes information from custom input type settings found in the supported elements.
